I currently hold a public job through open competition in the Midland Hospital in Tullamore where I previously worked as a trainee. Besides professional ties, I have a close personal belonging to the locality through my marriage, which makes the prospect enjoyable for me.
I also have privileges of access to private institutions where I conduct my private clinics and operating; this includes Beacon Hospital, Hermitage Medical Clinic and Charter Medical Private Hospital. This allows me to provide a wide range of services in a private capacity.
Upon completing my orthopaedic training in Ireland, I refined my skills by learning robotic, computer navigated, sensor aided arthroplasty of the hip and knee in addition to soft knee tissue surgery in Australia. Furthermore, I have worked closely with the Clifford Craig Research Institute, and we received a grant for the RSA knee replacement study.
I devised an online module for orthopaedic education during my training, showcasing my passion for medical education. My aim is to modernise orthopaedic surgical procedures and deliver personalised care and service to my patients.
I can work with all types of orthopaedic trauma from fracture fixations, hip and knee primary and revision replacements, and soft tissue surgery.
On the work front, I have keen interest in Anterior minimally invasive hip replacement, knee surgery with a focus on robotic aided and computer navigated knee replacement. Similarly, I take an interest in performing procedures such as known anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, management of cartilage lesions, management of meniscus injuries, high tibial osteotomy, and joint preservation surgery.
My scope of practice includes procedures around the patella-femoral joint including patellar stabilisation such as MPFL reconstruction and tibial tubercle osteotomy, along with patellofemoral joint replacement.
I am very keen to adopt technological advances in my practice and am working to integrate robotics, computer navigation and customisation into most of my surgical procedures.
Other procedures that draw my attention include patellar stabilisation such as MPFL reconstruction and tibial tubercle osteotomy, along with partial knee replacement and minimally invasive hip replacement.
In the future, I intend to work with the GPs in my organisation to improve the integration of robotic and computer navigated procedures for orthopaedic operations and provide the best care for our patients.
